Lebanon R-3 Schools has an Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Plan approved by our Board of Education and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This plan allows us to use up to 36 hours of virtual or alternative learning in case of inclement weather, utility outages, or other emergencies so learning can continue without adding make-up days at the end of the year.
All elementary students bring home packets for snow day learning in the fall. Packets for each grade level can also be accessed below. Middle school and high school students can access snow day learning assignments on Canvas.
When “snow day learning” is designated, it is a required learning day, and student work counts for their attendance. Completed assignments should be turned in when school resumes.
What Students Do on AMI Days
- Reinforce important skills or learn new concepts.
- Complete assignments through a mix of digital tools and paper packets.
- Access lessons aligned to Missouri’s priority standards.

Attendance
- Student participation is required. Attendance is verified by:
- Submitting completed assignments (electronically or in print)
- Logging into virtual lessons or activities
Teacher Availability
- Teachers are available throughout the day by email and Google Classroom™, to answer questions and support learning.
Support
- Students with disabilities continue to receive services aligned to their IEPs.
